Story Transcript:

En: Ivan stood at the entrance of the colorful Zagreb market.

En: It was a winter day, cold but clear.

En: Christmas lights twinkled in the sky, and the air smelled of mulled wine and roasted chestnuts.

En: There was a slight hustle and bustle in the air, everyone was buying something, laughing, talking.

En: He felt a heaviness in his heart and fought with his thoughts as he walked among the stalls full of gifts.

En: He thought of Marta and Nikola, his brother and sister, with whom he had not been close for years.

Hr: Bili su tu, u Zagrebu, i on je osjetio hitnu potrebu da ove godine pokuša sagraditi most između njih.
En: They were there, in Zagreb, and he felt an urgent need to try to build a bridge between them this year.

En: As he made his way through the crowd, his gaze fell upon a small stall full of decorations.

En: "Maybe this can be a symbol of hope," he thought when he spotted a small ceramic angel with outstretched arms.

En: He remembered all those Christmases when they laughed and shared moments that now seemed so distant and unattainable.

Hr: Ali onda, sumnje.
En: But then, doubts.

En: "Can one gift fix what has been broken for years?"

Hr: " mrmljao je sebi u bradu.
En: he murmured to himself.

En: His thoughts returned to past Christmases, to old disagreements and disappointments.

Hr: Ipak, odlučio je uzeti anđela.
En: Still, he decided to take the angel.

En: "It takes more than this," he told himself as he stood at the tram station, shoving his hands into his pockets.

Hr: "Moram više napraviti.
En: "I have to do more."

En: When he got home, Ivan sat at a table covered with notes.

Hr: Napravio je toplo piće i počeo pisati.
En: He made a warm drink and started writing.

Hr: Po jedno pismo za Martu i Nikolu.
En: One letter each for Marta and Nikola.

Hr: Iskreno.

En: He talked to them about his feelings of guilt, about how he missed them and how he wanted them to be together again.

En: He signed each letter with hope that wor
