Highlights
- We reached KP 5 yesterday which was G1 storming and we did see auroras in Minnesota as well as higher latitudes of course due to the elevated solar wind and the co-rotating interaction region.
- A coronal hole is about to face our Earth we could see additional enhanced geomagnetic activity intermittently.
- Two M class flares occurred about 40 minutes apart beginning at 5:05 utc today.
- Complex sunspots will soon turn away from us, this may shift our solar flare potential.
- We are living in a period of exceptionally high Sun-Earth magnetic connectivity, the highest in at least 25 years. This is one of the reasons we are seeing geomagnetic storms expanding the auroras in mid latitudes even during moderate solar events.
