The BRIC program, which funded infrastructure resilience projects across the country, including over $200 million in North Carolina, was abruptly canceled in April. North Carolina Attorney General Jeff Jackson and 19 other state attorneys general filed a lawsuit against FEMA, arguing that the cancellation was unlawful and that the funds should be used for critical resilience projects. The judges ruling orders FEMA to reverse the termination, but does not directly mandate the immediate release of funds for specific projects.
