The Red Treehouse is dedicated to my Dad, I love you, Pop.

Join me in The Red Treehouse as I read a terrific short horror story, The Old Nurse's Story, written by Elizabeth Gaskell.

First published in 1852, The Old Nurse’s Story by Elizabeth Gaskell, is a layered and terrific Victorian ghost story that explores themes of family, identity, and the sometimes-tragic consequences of past wrongs.

Written from the POV of an elderly nurse, Gaskell’s story is set in a cold, isolated manor full of ghostly apparitions, strange organ music, and a devilish sense of foreboding.

And, it’s set around the Christmas season—perfect for this time of  year.

So sit back, turn down the lights, pull up the covers, and pay close attention as I read The Old Nurse’s Story.
