El: Η Ελένη καθόταν δίπλα στο παράθυρο, κοιτάζοντας το παγωμένο λιμάνι της Θεσσαλονίκης.
En: I Eleni sat by the window, looking at the frozen harbor of Thessaloniki.
El: Ο χειμώνας είχε έρθει με όλη του τη δόξα, φέρνοντας χιόνι και κρύο αέρα.
En: Winter had arrived in all its glory, bringing snow and cold wind.
El: Το πόδι της ήταν σε γύψο, μια υπενθύμιση της πρόσφατης πτώσης της.
En: Her leg was in a cast, a reminder of her recent fall.

En: Neighbor Sofia entered as well, wearing a red scarf and carrying cookies and melomakarona.
El: «Η ατμόσφαιρα πρέπει να είναι γιορτινή!
En: "The atmosphere must be festive!"
El: » δήλωσε, αφήνοντας τα γλυκά στο τραπέζι.
En: she declared, leaving the sweets on the table.
El: Τα μάτια της έλαμπαν.
En: Her eyes sparkled.
El: «Θα σε βάλουμε στο κλίμα των Χριστουγέννων, θέλοντας και μη.
En: "We will get you into the Christmas spirit, whether you want it or not."
