# Breckenridge Ski Report: December 3, 2025
Well, friends, we've officially hit the ground running this season at Breckenridge! As of today, the mountain is sitting pretty with 18 inches of base depth across the resort, with a solid 2 inches of fresh powder dropping in the last 24 hours and 13 inches over the past 48 hours. That's the kind of early-season snow dump that makes skiers and riders jump out of bed at 5 AM, trust me.
The current conditions are looking crisp and clean out there. Base elevation temps are hovering around a chilly 38-39 degrees Fahrenheit, while up at the summit you're looking at a frosty 29-30 degrees with just a light 2 mph breeze. Clear skies are dominating today, so visibility is excellent for carving those groomers or dropping into the high-alpine terrain that Breck is famous for.
Right now, the resort has two lifts spinning, one gondola running, and two magic carpets helping get people up the mountain, with two runs officially open for business. It's early season, so terrain is limited but strategic. Peak 8 is the main hub of action, and the terrain that's open has been prepped beautifully by snowmaking crews working overtime before Mother Nature started helping out.
Looking ahead at the next five days, you'll want to pay close attention to the forecast. By December 4th, expect temperatures to plummet to around 14 degrees with winds picking up from the northwest. December 5th should stay cold around 11 degrees, while the 6th brings similar frosty conditions. By December 7th and 8th, temperatures moderate slightly to the low teens during the day but remain bitter cold overnight. The forecast shows mostly clear to partly cloudy skies through this stretch, which means those early-season lines should be reasonable if you can handle the deep cold.
One really exciting thing worth noting: snow is expected to fall at resort level again on December 28th, so the early part of the month should stay relatively stable, then things get juicy again as we head toward the end. With Breckenridge averaging 283 to 355 inches of snow annually across 72 snowfall days, we're on track for another epic season.
The mountain has opened with characteristic early-season enthusiasm. On opening day November 7th, skiers came out in full force under bluebird skies to celebrate the start of winter, and that stoke is carrying into December. With five peaks, 187 total trails (once fully open), and 2,908 skiable acres, there's absolutely something for everyone from beginners cruising Peak 9 groomers to experts hunting the imperial bowl terrain.
Currently, you can expect mostly freeze-thaw conditions with valley temperatures ranging from the low 10s overnight to the upper 40s during the day. Higher elevation terrain is staying solid though, especially given the north and east-facing aspects of much of the mountain.
Pro tip if you're heading out: bring layers and hand warmers. Those November mornings might be behind us, but December at this elevation is no joke. Chapstick is essential too, because that high-altitude sun reflecting off the snow will absolutely torch your lips. The resort opens lifts at 8:30 AM daily and closes at 4 PM, so plan your attack accordingly.
This is exactly the kind of December setup Breckenridge thrives in. With solid early snow, cold temperatures keeping things stable, and more powder on the horizon, the conditions are prime for shredding. Just remember that historically, January and February tend to deliver better overall conditions than December, so if you're flexible with timing, keep that in mind. But if you're heading out now, you're in for some genuinely good early-season turns on one of Colorado's most iconic mountains.
