Harry Binswanger is a leading Objectivist philosopher, who was an associate and friend of Ayn Rand. He had a big role in the creation of the Ayn Rand Institute and served 36 years on its Board. He taught philosophy both in academia and for ARI. His blog and membership site is HBletter.com (his initials, HB, followed by "letter").
Bachelor Science, MIT; Ph.D. Columbia University.
During the 80s, had The Objectivist Forum, for which AR served, until her death, as "Philosophic Consultant" (her choice of title).
Several books: conceived and created the Ayn Rand Lexicon, was one of the philosophers at the 3 Workshops on Objectivist epistemology that AR conducted after ITOE was published and, with LP, edited the transcripts of that to produce the Appendix to the 2nd edition of ITOE. Two other books and an anthology: The Biological Basis of Teleological Concepts (putting forward a new Darwin-based concept of the goal-directedness of all living action) How We Know: Epistemology on an Objectivist Foundation, the fruits of a life-long study of Objectivism. On my stepping down from the Board, ARI published Ayn Rand's Philosophic Achievement, and other essays by Harry Binswanger.
Taught: Pratt Institute (Brooklyn), Brooklyn Polytech, Hunter College (C.U.N.Y.), The New School for Social Research, and U.T., Austin.
