Good morning, Los Angeles. It’s Artificial Lure here with your local fishing report for December 1st, 2025. The tide’s running high this morning, with a solid 5.78 feet at 5:47 AM, and the low tide will hit 12:44 PM at just 0.09 feet. The water’s calm, the weather’s gorgeous, and the sun’s already up, rising at 6:43 AM and setting at 4:43 PM. Perfect conditions for a day on the water.
Fish activity’s been strong all along the coast. Over in Long Beach, the boats are coming in with big hauls—Eldorado Long Beach Sportfishing had 242 whitefish, 256 rockfish, and 64 sheephead from their overnight trip. Victory Long Beach Sportfishing brought in 310 rockfish and 21 sheephead on a 3/4 day. The Pierpoint Landing boats are seeing sculpin, whitefish, and red snapper, while San Pedro’s Monte Carlo out of 22nd Street Landing had a clean, warm day with nearly 60 keeper calico bass, plus whitefish, sheephead, and a bunch of bottom grabbers.
Marina del Rey’s been busy too, with 218 sculpin, 155 whitefish, 100 mackerel, and 15 calico bass caught on their recent trips. The word is dropper loops with squid and shrimp are working best for the bottom fish, but if you’re after calico bass, try a small jig or a live sand crab.
For the best spots, head to Long Beach Pierpoint Landing or San Pedro’s 22nd Street Landing. Both are seeing consistent action, and the weather’s making it easy to get out early. If you’re looking for a change of pace, try the Venice Beach Pier, where the tide’s running 6.0 feet this morning and the perch are biting.
