Radio was an invention involving many contributors and inventors. The pivotal moment, however, was on December 24, 1906 with the first long-distance public broadcast of a human voice on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1906 from Brant Rock, Mass. The first commercial radio station was KDKA in Pittsburgh, PA transmitting the US Presidential election results between Warren G Harding and James Cox on November 2, 1920. Radio become the center piece for news and entertainment soon after that. Radio shows became the theater of the mind. As television entered the market in the late 50s, radio evolved. Today radio has decentralized from stations to podcasts and content on demand. It is a medium that allows us to dream and create the stories in our imagination without being told what to see or dream. It is the power of the spoken word.
