Ro: În inima pieței din București, toamna își așeza liniștit culorile calde peste tarabe și vânzători.

Ro: Aerul era umplut de miresme îmbietoare, iar agitația cumpărătorilor aducea un farmec aparte locului.
En: The air was filled with enticing fragrances, and the hustle and bustle of buyers brought a certain charm to the place.
Ro: Printre standurile pline de legume proaspete și fructe colorate, taraba lui Doru era o oază de tradiționalism românesc, cu oale fierbând și tigăi sfârâind.

Ro: Lavinia pășea cu nerăbdare spre taraba sa.

Ro: Lavinia, încercând să pară cunoscătoare, enunță, "Sarmale, hmm. Da, vreau să încerc acel fel.

Ro: "Sigur," răspunse Lavinia, decisă să nu îşi trădeze ignoranţa.
En: "Sure," replied Lavinia, determined not to betray her ignorance.
Ro: O privi nedumerită spre alt fel de mâncare.
En: She looked puzzled towards another dish.
Ro: "Și, acelea?
En: "And, those?
Ro: Arată interesant."
En: They look interesting."
Ro: "Ale?
En: "Those?
Ro: Aa, acelea sunt tocăniță de ciuperci." Doru își mușcă buza, pregătindu-se să vadă reacția ei la o explicație trunchiată.
En: Ah, those are mushroom stew." Doru bit his lip, preparing to see her reaction to an abridged explanation.
Ro: "Perfect, asta îmi place!" exclamă Lavinia, încercând să țină pasul cu jocul.
