Berry Gordy Jr., born on Nov. 28, 1929, transformed American music by creating the Motown Sound, a revolutionary blend of soul, pop and R&B. After founding Motown in 1959, he helped launch the careers of Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, the Supremes, the Temptations, the Jackson 5 and many more. Today, we celebrate Gordy’s enduring legacy and his 96th birthday.
