**Tides and Timing**
We've got a solid tide schedule working in our favor. High tide hit at 4:10 AM at 4.86 feet, and we're looking at a low around 9:51 AM at 3.22 feet. Another high comes in at 3:04 PM at 4.59 feet, with a final low at 9:49 PM at 1.35 feet. Sunrise was 6:37 AM and sunset's at 4:44 PM, so we're working with limited daylight. The solunar bite windows show major activity from 6:38 to 8:38 AM and again from 6:53 to 8:53 PM, with minor windows at 1:42 to 3:42 PM. These are prime feeding times—don't miss them.
**Recent Catches**
The sportfishing reports from yesterday show rockfish dominating everywhere. Newport Beach landed 290 whitefish and 50 rockfish on their three-quarter day. Long Beach's Eldorado brought in 230 rockfish and 180 whitefish on an overnight trip. Up in Santa Barbara, the Coral Sea crushed it with 250 rockfish and 5 lingcod. Sheephead are biting strong too—the Aloha Spirit out of Oxnard landed 28 sheephead plus 92 rockfish on a full day. Lingcod and sculpin are showing up consistently across the board.
**What to Throw**
For rockfish, stay traditional with small shrimp, squid, and live anchovies. Sheephead love crab and sea urchin if you can get them, but squid works in a pinch. Lingcod will crush live mackerel and larger baits. If you're throwing artificials, small swimbaits and micro jigs are working the deeper structure.
**Hot Spots**
Santa Monica Bay is your go-to for accessibility and consistency. The harbors—especially Marina del Rey and the various basins—hold plenty of fish in their protected waters. If you've got a boat, the points and reefs around Catalina are firing hard right now.
