Story Transcript:

En: Ana wiped the sweat from her forehead as she looked out the window of the field hospital tent.

Hr: Lišće je žutjelo pod sivim nebom kasne jeseni.
En: The leaves were turning yellow under the gray sky of late autumn.

En: It was a sharp contrast to the vivid images of home that she kept in her heart.

En: Now, in this place, every breath was a struggle.

En: The field hospital tent was located on the edge of a small village.

En: All around her, medical staff and volunteers were bustling between improvised beds.

Hr: Nedavni potres razrušio je selo i donio neočekivani val bolesnih i ranjenih.
En: A recent earthquake had destroyed the village and brought an unexpected wave of sick and injured.

En: Ana was in charge of prioritizing patients.

En: The hospital supplies were running low, and the situation was chaotic.

En: Marko, a young doctor, ran towards her.

Hr: "Ana," rekao je, "imamo još pacijenata.
En: "Ana," he said, "we have more patients.

Hr: Ivanka pomaže s popisima.
En: Ivanka is helping with the lists."

En: Ana nodded, took a deep breath, and headed towards the new arrivals.

En: Her eyes flew from one patient to another.

En: Each injury was different, every pain seemed equally urgent.

En: Her heart was heavy, but she had to make tough decisions.

En: "Priority is for the most critical ones," she said in a quiet voice, more to herself than to others.

En: As she walked towards the back of the tent, she noticed a child with severe injuries.

Hr: Mala djevojčica, jedva svjesna, trebala je hitnu pomoć.
En: The little girl, barely conscious, needed immediate assistance.

Hr: Anin svijet stao je na trenutak.
En: Ana's world stood still for a moment.

Hr: Mora brzo reagirati.
En: She had to react quickly.

En: She called out to Marko to bring the necessary supplies.

Hr: Trka s vremenom je počela.
En: The race against time had begun.

En: As her hands worked almost automatically, she reflexively thought about everything she had survived.

Hr: Strah, tuga, umor.
En: Fear, sadness, exhaustion.

Hr: Ali i ta njezina odlučnost i strast prema pomoći
