According to former U.S. Ambassador to NATO Alexander Vershbow, the newest Russia-Ukraine peace plan, drafted by the Trump administration, is "very strange" because its proposals largely align with Russian demands and offer little in return from Moscow. Vershbow has publicly stated that Russia has repeatedly abandoned agreements it helped negotiate, undermining the rules of the international system. Other European and U.S. officials have echoed this criticism, with one representative describing the proposal as a "surrender plan" for Ukraine.
