 means to strongly affect someone emotionally because it feels real, relatable, or true to their personal experience. 

Examples:

1- Her speech about burnout really hit home — I realized I’ve been ignoring my own limits.
2- When she whispered, “I haven’t felt truly seen in years,” it hit home. I realized how many people live feeling invisible.
