330: [Formed.] Strahan Coleman on The Cost of Formation, Negotiating with Sorrow, and Why You Can't Perform Your Way to God's Heart

Published 3 years, 3 months ago
Description

This is week five of our "Formed" series. In today's conversation, my new friend Strahan Coleman is here to talk about the cost of formation, how to negotiate with sorrow and silence, and why you can't perform your way to God's heart. Strahan is a writer, musician, and spiritual director from New Zealand. His work helps people to grow a deep friendship with God, seeing prayer as far more than conscious mental dialogue but as a way of existing with God in our everyday ordinary lives. His prayers and poems are invitations toward an honest, rested and open life lived in the Spirit and his dialogue around how we can incorporate ancient prayer forms into our modern lives has helped give language to a generation longing for a deeper living experience of God.
