LA Fishing Report 11/16/2025: Bluefin Tuna, Rockfish, and Scorpionfish Dominate the Catch

# Artificial Lure's Los Angeles Fishing Report – November 16th, 2025

Hey folks, it's Artificial Lure here with your Sunday morning fishing report for the greater Los Angeles area, and let me tell you, today's shaping up to be a solid day on the water.

**Tidal Action**

We've got a waxing gibbous moon working in our favor today. High tide hit this morning at 6:39 AM at 5.63 feet, and we're looking at a low around 1:20 PM at just 0.53 feet. Another high tide's coming in at 7:20 PM. Those tide swings are creating excellent bite windows, so get out there early and capitalize on that morning high.

**Light & Weather**

Sunrise was at 6:26 this morning, and you've got until 4:49 PM before sunset. That gives us a solid window to work with today. The solunar charts show major bite times hitting between 6:38 AM and 8:38 AM, with another minor window from 1:42 PM to 3:42 PM.

**What's Biting**

October was absolutely on fire at 22nd Street Landing in San Pedro. We saw massive bluefin tuna action with multiple limits caught in single trips. Yellowtail, kelp bass, and rockfish were also producing consistently. Whitefish and calico bass rounded out the mixed bags. Looking at the annual numbers, rockfish are dominating the counts with over 27,000 fish landed so far this year, and the scorpionfish numbers are through the roof at over 25,000.

**Best Baits & Lures**

For live bait, anchovies and sardines are your go-to for tuna and yellowtail. If you're casting artificials, stick with small metal jigs in silver and gold, or live bait rigs for the bottom dwellers. Drop-shot setups with soft plastics are crushing it on the rockfish and bass right now.

**Hot Spots**

Head down to Santa Monica Bay if you're doing land-based fishing—look for those irregularities in the breaking waves where the sandbanks and holes create feeding zones. For serious action, 22nd Street Landing in San Pedro is your destination. Their fleet is consistently bringing in quality fish daily.
