Episode 42
I volunteer to sit with those who are dying—individuals without family or friends—at a few hospitals in Seattle. I offer a quiet, steady presence for those who might otherwise take their final steps alone.
By the time I am asked to attend, they are usually in comfort care and appear unconscious, yet over time I have become acutely aware that something in them still meets me. Beneath the surface of the body, we enter a subtle field of consciousness together—a quiet, spacious awareness where presence is felt more than spoken.
My role is not to fix or to guide, but simply to be with them: to listen, to hold silence, to offer warmth, dignity, and human companionship in the most vulnerable hours of life.
I breathe with them, honor their stories, and help sustain a gentle field of peace as they transition. This work arises from love: a devotion to ensuring that no one leaves this world without being met, recognized, and held in compassion.

In the quiet between heartbeats a whisper calls you home, you are not broken you are becoming. These threads of silence and sound are letters from the threshold, offerings from the edge of stillness. Nigel TEA AND ZEN - MAIN LIBRARYPublished on 16 hours ago
