Season 1 Episode 70 Published 7 months, 1 week ago
Description

Did you know Taiwan has the third largest percentage of vegetarians in the world? Taiwan has a rich vegetarian culture, influenced by Buddhism, which has made plant-based dishes available all across the island.

Peter Singer is widely acknowledged as the father of the animal rights movement, having written a book that awakened millions of people to animal oppression, “Animal Liberation”, first published in 1975. In this episode of Formosa Fauna, Singer shares his expectations of how the first copy would affect the world differed from reality, and how he hopes the new traditional Mandarin Chinese translation of the newer "Animal Liberation Now: The Definitive Classic Renewed" will leave a different mark.

The book uses philosophy and facts from diverse sources to paint a picture the responsible consumer will want to know.
