Hey everyone, it's Artificial Lure here with your Friday morning fishing report for the Los Angeles area.
**Tidal Conditions**
We're looking at excellent tidal windows today. High tide hit at 5:48 AM this morning at 5.1 feet, with a low tide coming at noon at 1.59 feet. That afternoon high tide rolls in around 5:38 PM at 4.24 feet. These are solid conditions for getting out on the water, especially around those tidal transitions when the fish tend to get more aggressive.
**Weather & Daylight**
Sunrise was at 6:24 AM and we've got sunset at 4:50 PM, so you've got a solid window to work with. Fair conditions today with reasonable visibility out on the water.
**Recent Catches**
Here's what's been biting in our local waters. The rockfish bite has been absolutely stellar—this is your bread and butter right now. Twenty-second Street Landing in San Pedro reported 70 bluefin tuna and 65 yellowtail yesterday alongside consistent rockfish action. Up in Orange County, Dana Wharf landed 190 rockfish in a single day. Down in San Diego, we're seeing consistent rockfish action across the board, with Seaforth pulling in 104 rockfish plus whitefish and sheephead. Point Loma and H&M have been producing solid yellowtail and rockfish combinations.
**Best Baits & Lures**
For rockfish, live squid and mackerel are your go-to baits. The yellowtail and bluefin activity tells me live sardines and anchovies are working great. For artificials, shadow shad patterns in the 3 to 3.5-inch range are money right now, especially in natural colors. Work your presentations around that noon low tide when currents intensify.
**Hot Spots**
Twenty-second Street Landing in San Pedro has been absolutely on fire with yellowtail and bluefin action—that's your ticket for something special today. Dana Point area is delivering consistent rockfish on party boats if you want reliable steady fishing.
