Published 5 months, 1 week ago
Description
On November 7, two teenagers were taken into custody following an alleged attempted car burglary and shooting incident near the intersection of Queen Creek and Gilbert roads. According to Chandler police, a witness observed two individuals attempting to break into vehicles in a residential neighborhood and intervened by flashing lights and honking the horn. The suspects fled, but one of them stopped and fired multiple rounds at the witness’s vehicle, striking the windshield, passenger-side door frame, and front driver-side bumper. Both suspects were apprehended within an hour and a half of the incident. One of the teens led officers to a black Ruger Security 9mm handgun hidden in a bush. The 16-year-old suspect, who had prior arrests for robbery in California, will be charged as an adult with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, minor in possession of a firearm, and attempted burglary. The 14-year-old suspect admitted during questioning that the older teen fired at the vehicle. The investigation is ongoing, with police working to determine how the firearm was obtained. The case remains under investigation.
On October 15, three teens were charged in connection with a burglary at a Chandler elementary school. Chandler police reported that the suspects allegedly broke into the school and stole property.
