Denmark’s Government Announces Social Media Ban for Children Under Age 15

Intelligence Note:

Denmark’s Government Announces Social Media Ban for Children Under Age 15

• Denmark plans to ban access to social media for children under 15 years old.

• There is an exception: children aged 13 or 14 may gain access if their parents provide consent after a specific assessment.

• The government has cited evidence that a very large percentage of children under 13 already have social-media profiles (for example: 94% of children under age 13 in Denmark) as part of the rationale.

What are your thoughts on this legislation? Is it beneficial or ineffective?
