20 - Vivec’s Lessons: Morrowind’s Manifesto of Postmodern Heroism
Published 11 months, 2 weeks ago
Description
As part of the Elder Scrolls and Philosophy study, I frame Morrowind’s 36 Lessons of Vivec as a manifesto of postmodern heroism.
We look at:
• Who Vivec is (warrior, poet, god-king, liar) and why that matters for reading the sermons
• How the Lessons push a kind of self-making heroism rather than simple “chosen one” destiny
• Where Vivec’s esoteric path rhymes with secular postmodern existentialism
