Lane Kiffin is the hottest name in what is already one of the wildest coaching carousels in college football history. But Tony ‘Mr. College Football’ Barnhart wouldn’t be surprised to see Kiffin stick around at Ole Miss.
Kiffin, the fastest Ole Miss coach to 50 wins in history, is a leading candidate for openings at both Florida and LSU. Sources indicate Florida is far and away the biggest threat of the two.
Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz is the betting favorite for the Florida job, according to Bet Online. Tulane’s Jon Sumrall is the betting favorite for LSU.
However, Barnhart told Ole Miss Spirit contributor Brad Logan that Kiffin’s decision may be tougher than most realize given the unique situation he’s built in Oxford.
No. 7 Ole Miss (7-1, 4-1 SEC) hosts South Carolina (3-5, 1-5) Saturday at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN. Kiffin isn’t the only coach in the game dealing with silly-season rumors.
Logan is also joined by Grayson Weir of BroBile to talk all things Ole Miss and SEC football.
