Lexus LS Concept Gallery: Six-Wheeled Minivan in Pictures

Nobody expected the LS to evolve into this

The major Japanese automakers have come out swinging at this year’s Japan Mobility Show, with an array of jaw-dropping concepts that are complete reinventions of the nameplates attached to them. The Toyota Corolla Concept is one example, and the other is this, the Lexus LS Concept. A six-wheeled minivan previewed a few weeks ago, the LS Concept has now been shown in full, and it’s nothing like the stately but comparatively conservative LS sedan we know so well. Here’s a closer look at the LS Concept, which envisions a future Lexus flagship.

The side view is perhaps the most dramatic, as the LS Concept features six wheels. Simon Humphries, Chief Branding Officer, said this layout helps to maximize floor space and improve packaging.

The interior paneling with horizontal lines mirrors the lines on the sliding doors. With so much on-board tech, it's no surprise that the doors are power-operated.

At the back, the LS Concept's tall stature is once again evident. LEXUS lettering is illuminated and the rear window is framed by extensive red lighting.
