Published 5 months, 3 weeks ago
Description
Chandler law enforcement responded to a reported aggravated assault near the intersection of Alma School Road and Ray Road just after midnight last Sunday. Patrol officers located a male victim with minor injuries who alleged he was attacked by two individuals during an argument. The suspects fled prior to arrival; the case remains under investigation.
On Tuesday afternoon in the Ocotillo neighborhood, police received multiple calls regarding suspected vehicle burglaries. Witnesses described seeing two people rummaging through parked cars in a community lot before leaving in a dark sedan. Officers collected video evidence from nearby security cameras. Chandler PD is actively seeking public assistance and described the suspects as one male, medium build, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans, and a female, slender build, with long brown hair, last seen in a white t-shirt and blue pants.
Wednesday evening brought a residential burglary report from a homeowner on the west side of Dobson Ranch. The resident stated that several electronic devices were taken while they were out. Entry appeared to have been forced through a back window. Investigators processed the scene for fingerprints. No arrests have been made as of yet. The incident is under further investigation.
Late Thursday, officers were dispatched after reports of a possible stolen vehicle near Chandler Boulevard and Arizona Avenue. The alleged theft involved a silver SUV that was last seen heading northbound. Police have notified neighboring agencies and the investigation is ongoing.
Just before dawn Friday in the Fulton Ranch area, patrol responded to a suspected case of criminal damage at a local park. Several benches and trash receptacles had been spray-painted with profane symbols and words. The incident was documented and crews coordinated to restore the site. Police are reviewing camera footage but no suspects have been identified.
Additional incidents were logged throughout the week including two shoplifting complaints at retail centers along Gilbert Road and a disturbance call outside a business on Queen Creek Road, both resolved with trespass warnings and no arrests.
The Chandler Police Department took statements for a fraudulent check allegation at a financial institution in the downtown district Thursday morning. According to staff, a customer attempted to cash a forged check. Officers interviewed the individual and collected the disputed check as evidence. The investigation is ongoing with no charges filed yet.
Chandler authorities report no significant spikes in violent crime, though there is a noticeable uptick in property crimes such as vehicle and residential burglaries in the southern half of the city. Patrols have increased in these neighborhoods in response.
