Good morning wonderful people. Starting today — I begin a new shorts-series on the Varna system in Jyotish, wrongly called the “caste system.” In Jyotish it is functional, not social.

• Jupiter & Venus = Brahmana (teachers, priests, counselors, refiners)

• Moon & Mercury = Vaishya (traders of food, money, info, narrative, care)

• Sun & Mars = Kshatriya (defenders, rulers, strategists, executors)

• Saturn = Shudra (workers, builders, servers, system enforcers)

• Rahu & Ketu = Mleccha (outsiders, disruptors, foreign forces, inversion of order)

This classification is astrological, not social — it describes how a planet behaves professionally and karmically — not anyone’s social worth.
