Nini Uppuluri is a 14-year-old Indian-American pop artist and songwriter, born in New Jersey, USA, and now living in Bharat (India). Her multicultural background gives her music a uniquely global feel, blending her American roots with her Indian heritage to create songs that are both familiar and fresh. Nini’s love for music began early and blossomed during the quiet days of the pandemic. What started as hours spent listening to her favorite artists turned into singing covers, taking vocal lessons from a New York City coach, and eventually writing songs of her own.
Over time, she grew from a passionate listener into a young artist with a clear voice and vision. Her songwriting draws inspiration from both personal experiences and stories that move her. “Most of my songs come from real events, stories I’ve heard, or something that made me feel enough to write about it,” she explains. Her influences include Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Katy Perry, Carly Rae Jepsen, Meghan Trainor, Billy Joel, and Sammy Davis Jr., artists she admires for their storytelling and musical versatility. Some of Nini’s favorite songs that she’s written, such as “Lil Brother,” “If You Only Knew Me” and “All That I Wanna Be”, each tell a different story. “They’re all special to me in their own way,” she says with a smile. Nini also plays guitar and piano, instruments she uses to explore melodies and bring her ideas to life.
