The annual U.S. inflation rate rose to 3% in September 2025, according to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) report released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The report, which was delayed by the recent government shutdown, shows an increase from the 2.9% rate in August. While this was the fastest pace since January, the annual core inflation rate (excluding volatile food and energy) decreased slightly to 3%, suggesting that broader price pressures may be moderating.
