The Suspicious Death of Samantha Harer
In February 2018, Samantha Harer, a 911 dispatcher from Illinois, was found dead in her apartment from a gunshot wound to the head. Her boyfriend, a police officer, claimed it was suicide but her family suspected foul play and accused him of murder. They also allege a police cover-up involving local law enforcement.

Since January 2019, the case has seen major developments:
• Samantha’s parents expanded their lawsuit to include police officials accused of misconduct (2019).
• A $15 million default judgment was issued against the officer in 2023, with the court ruling that evidence suggested homicide.
• The officer resigned in 2019 and died suddenly in 2025 at age 40.
