18 - The Story of Morrowind: Nerevarine, Fate, and the Hortator
Published 1 year ago
Description
Morrowind's main story runs from Lorkhan's Heart under Red Mountain to an Outlander who may be Nerevar reborn. Prophecy, Hortator legitimacy before the great houses, Tribunal betrayal, and Dagoth Ur's offer at the Heart: refuse a corrupted companionship, or join it.
In this Elder Scrolls & Philosophy story overview, Dr. Andrew Snyder traces the Chimer-to-Dunmer arc, Kagrenac's tools, the seven trials of the Nerevarine, and why the hero's fate stays as open as legend. A short gateway into the Morrowind unit before the deeper philosophy talks.
Related: Mythic Mind Games ep. 20 (Vivec's Lessons / postmodern heroism) https://youtu.be/dKGt3-l0W2g; and the Elder Scrolls creation myth pair (Games ep. 15 told; ep. 17 analysis https://youtu.be/EDk7u3gd2VE), which this overview opens with.
