3BG at the Movies| Sonic The Hedgehog
Description
You could say it was low expectations given the initial rollout of the first trailer but the Sonic the Hedgehog movie ends up being really good. The film has a very straightforward plot. Nothing convoluted and its simplicity is why everything in this film works from the buddy relationship between James Marsden's Tom and Sonic even to Jim Carrey's portrayal of Robotnik. The human characters don't overshadow Sonic and they work as support for him ultimately.
Much like Detective Pikachu, Sonic the Hedgehog manages to nail the character and give you enough world building to where you want more of it.
