Northstar Gold Corp CEO Brian Fowler Joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce the signing of a Surgical Mining Services Agreement with Novamera Inc. to deploy its patented Turnkey Surgical Mining technology at Northstar’s historic Cam Copper Mine, located on the Miller Copper-Gold Property in Ontario. Fowler explained that the agreement will see Novamera’s precision, low-impact mining process applied to the near-surface, high-grade Zone 2 volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) horizon at Cam Copper. The project’s goal is to evaluate whether the mineralization is technically and environmentally suitable for this next-generation extraction approach. Novamera’s Surgical Mining technology combines simulation, real-time downhole imaging, data analytics, and steering technologies with large-diameter drilling to selectively extract ore from steeply dipping tabular deposits—such as Northstar’s Zone 2—while minimizing waste and surface disturbance. Under the agreement, Novamera will deploy its integrated solution to extract an estimated 116,000 tonnes of mineralized material from Zone 2 using 93 extraction holes over approximately 31 months. The system also incorporates controlled backfilling of voids post-extraction, further enhancing environmental performance.
