Organized retail crime (ORC) is becoming a major issue in the U.S., with a sharp rise in thefts from organized groups. Retailers have lost billions of dollars to these crimes, which is pretty staggering. To fight back, stores have ramped up security with things like locked glass cases and keeping high-value items behind the counter. The criminals behind these thefts often know which states have weaker laws, where stealing under a certain dollar amount doesn’t lead to felony charges or heavy fines. Retailers are calling for stronger laws to tackle the problem, but for now,  the shopping experience is becoming challenging.
