610 Acts 16: The Power of Faith in Adversity and Transformation
Description
Friday, Oct 3rd: In Episode 610, John Spencer and Mariza dive into the action-packed chapter of Acts 16, exploring Paul’s second missionary journey as he’s joined by Timothy in Lystra. Despite the Jerusalem Council ruling circumcision unnecessary for salvation, Paul circumcises Timothy to remove cultural barriers while ministering to Jews. The Holy Spirit redirects their plans, leading them into Macedonia, where Paul receives a vision of a man calling for help. In Philippi, they meet Lydia, a wealthy merchant of purple cloth, whose heart God opens to the gospel. She and her household are baptized, and her home becomes the first church in Europe. They later free a demon-possessed slave girl, angering her owners and landing Paul and Silas in prison. While chained in stocks, they choose joy and sing hymns, resulting in a divine earthquake that breaks their bonds. The Philippian jailer, witnessing their faith, asks how to be saved and believes in Jesus with his entire household. Paul asserts his Roman citizenship to protect the new believers, ensuring the church in Philippi begins with strength and stability.
