Af: In die hartjie van die lente, met die beste sig op Tafelberg, het Johan, Anika, en Thabo ontmoet by die pragtige Kirstenbosch Botaniese Tuin.
En: In the heart of spring, with the best view of Tafelberg, Johan, Anika, and Thabo met at the beautiful Kirstenbosch Botaniese Tuin.
Af: Die lug was vars en die reënboog van blomme het die tuin laat lewe.
En: The air was fresh, and the rainbow of flowers made the garden come alive.
Af: Johan het alles perfek beplan.
En: Johan had planned everything perfectly.
Af: Hy het ’n piekniek mandjie vol lekkernye gebring: vars brood, kaas, vrugte, en Anika se gunsteling sjokolade.
En: He brought a picnic basket full of treats: fresh bread, cheese, fruits, and Anika's favorite chocolate.
Af: Thabo het sy grappies ingepak soos altyd, gereed om snaakse oomblikke te skep.

Af: Hulle het tussen die paadjies gestap, onder die koel bome en langs die helder blomme van die lente.
En: They walked along the paths, under the cool trees, and beside the bright spring flowers.
Af: Johan het sy oë gefokus op die gewonde mandjie.
En: Johan kept his eyes focused on the missing basket.
Af: Thabo het links en regs grappies gemaak oor hoe die mandjie dalk ’n lewe van sy eie het.
En: Thabo joked left and right about how the basket might have a life of its own.
Af: Hulle het by ’n groot ou boom gestop.
En: They stopped at a big old tree.
Af: En daar, tot hul verbasing, het hulle die mandjie gevind.
En: And there, to their surprise, they found the basket.
Af: Maar dit was nie alleen nie.
En: But it was not alone.
Af: ’n Speelse eekhoring was daarbinne, knibbel aan ’n stukkie brood.
En: A playful squirrel was inside, nibbling on a piece of bread.

En: Thabo couldn't stop laughing.
Af: Hy het erken dat hy die eekhoring vroeër gesien het en besluit het om die mandjie vir ’n slag weg te steek as ’n speelse grap.
En: He admitted that he had seen the squirrel earlier and decided to hide the basket as a playful joke.
Af: Johan seir eers oor die chaos, maar toe het hy gelag.
En: Johan was initially upset about the chaos, but then he laughed.
