Back to EpisodesVGK drops first opener in 7 years, falls to Kings in SO 6-5
Description
The Golden Knights lost the home opener to the L.A. Kings 6-5 in a shootout last night. There was a lot of buzz before the game as Jack Eichel signed a new contract that will keep him in Las Vegas for eight more years. The opener also marked the debut of Mitch Marner. Eichel had a four point night with one goal. He had five shots. Marner had two assists. But it was Pavel Dorofeyev who tallied his third career hat trick, after coming back from a preseason injury. VGK battled back from a 3-1 deficit. They tied it at three-all on two Dorofeyev power play goals. The Golden Knights built a 5-3 lead in the third period. But poor mismanagement allowed the Kings to get back into the game. VGK fell in the shootout 2-1. Adin Hill had a horrendous night in net, giving up all five goals. We talk about Jack Eichel's new $13.5 million contract and his loyalty to VGK. And we tee up tonight's VGK-San Jose game with our Locks of the Knight.
