中国的传统文化和现代文化的审美不太一样。古代胖是美。比如在唐朝的时候，女人胖一些更受人喜爱，欢迎。现在中国社会却不一样了：现在主流文化认为女人越瘦越好。很多女生虽然并不胖，却总是在减肥。为了减肥，很多女生不好好吃饭，导致身体健康都出现了问题。经常生病。
现在不健康的审美也受到了很多人的批评。很多人也认识到瘦不是美，健康才是第一的。不应该为了追求瘦不吃饭。即使需要减肥，大家也都健康减肥。比如参加运动或者去健身房。
中国人也非常喜欢“白”。尤其是中国的女人很热衷于美白。为了白，他们花钱买各种美白产品。中国人夏天出门的时候一般都会打太阳伞，防止阳光让自己变黑。因为怕晒黑，中国人也不像美国人那么喜欢去沙滩晒太阳。
不过现在也有很多人崇尚健康的肤色，而不是苍白的肤色。越来越多的中国人参加户外运动，比如跑步，骑自行车。她们不怕太阳，也为自己的自然肤色骄傲。
