- Podcast listening is highest between 10am-2pm, according to new data from Edison Research. Breakfast time isn’t too far behind, however. The data also says that Americans age 13+ spend 10% of their total daily audio time listening to podcasts.
- This behaviour is also seen in the UK, with RAJAR’s MIDAS study showing the most listening between 10am-2pm (page 25), with the peak between 12-12.30pm.
- Collin Campbell is reported to have left NPR last week. The SVP of Podcasting Strategy joined NPR in Dec 2023. An internal memo from Edith Chapin, who was acting Chief Content Officer when she sent it late last month, says he is “pursuing an opportunity in news a little closer to home in California”, which Ben Mullin, a New York Times media reporter, tells us is at Apple. (Chapin also left NPR at the end of last week.)
- YouTube posts “The definitive guide to creating engaging podcast content”. It recommends chapters, keyword-rich descriptions, strategic titles, and cultivating the comments section.
