Story Transcript:

Hr: Marin je hodao užurbanim koracima kroz šareni otvoreni trgovački centar u Rijeci.
En: Marin walked briskly through the colorful open shopping center in Rijeka.

En: The morning sun glimmered slowly through the clouds, illuminating the stalks of pumpkins and the colorful flowers that adorned the stalls.

Hr: Rijeka se budila, a miris svježeg kruha i pečenih kestena ispunio je zrak.
En: Rijeka was waking up, and the scent of fresh bread and roasted chestnuts filled the air.

Hr: Marin je bio kuhar s misijom.
En: Marin was a chef on a mission.

En: He needed to find the perfect, unusual ingredient for a new dish he had to present at a dinner with friends.

En: The pavement was bustling, but he moved among the people with the skill of someone who knows every corner of the market.

Hr: No, unatoč svojem iskustvu, osjećao se zabrinuto.
En: Yet, despite his experience, he felt anxious.

En: He passed by the stalls but couldn't find what he was looking for anywhere.

En: The market was filled with familiar autumn vegetables: orange pumpkins, ivy in pots, and the last blooming dahlias.

En: "Marin, it’s so good to see you!" exclaimed Ivana, a cheerful vendor, when she spotted him.

En: Ivana was a warm woman who remembered the names of all her customers.

Hr: Marin se zaustavio kraj njezinog štanda, očaran nevjerojatnim mirisom svježih začina.
En: Marin stopped by her stall, enchanted by the incredible aroma of fresh spices.

Hr: „Bok, Ivana,“ rekao je Marin uz osmijeh.
En: "Hi, Ivana," Marin said with a smile.

Hr: „Tražim nešto posebno za večeru.
En: "I'm looking for something special for dinner.

En: Something that can bring that 'wow' effect."

Hr: Ivana je kratko razmislila, primijetivši Marinovu žurbu.
En: Ivana thought briefly, noticing Marin's haste.

En: "I have something just for you," she said quietly, bending down under her stall.

Hr: U njezinim rukama našao se snop zelenkastih listova, nepoznat Marinu.
En: In her hands was a bundle of greenish leaves, unknown to Marin.

En: "This is a rare spice from the area, called 'samonikla kadulja'.

En: It's not used often, but it gives a dish a special taste."

Hr: Marin je upitno pogledao listove.
En: Marin looked at the leaves questioningly.

Hr: „Nikad prije nisam čuo za to.“
En: "I've never heard of it before."

Hr: „Al
