Supernatural: Remember the Titans (8x16) | Recap & Lore

Season 8 Episode 16 Published 1 year ago
Description

Supernatural Season 8, Episode 16, Remember the Titans recap 🔥 Greek mythology crashes into Montana: a man dies every day, a bird keeps eating his liver, and nobody knows what mountain they’re talking about, on Denim-wrapped Nightmares, a Supernatural rewatch podcast.

A hit-and-run victim in Great Falls, Montana, gets up and walks away, and the local cop is convinced it’s zombies. The boys find Shane (John Reardon), a moppy-haired cutie with no memory, who dies every single day and comes back. Then a woman (Anna Van Hooft) shows up with a bow, a grudge, and a great haircut. Plus, Berly shares her final word on Man’s Best Friend with Benefits after the Patreon discussion.

Episode Highlights:

  • A hit-and-run, a bird of prey snacking on a liver, and a body that gets up and strolls into grizzly country
  • The best cop in Supernatural history: “Dead as dog poop,” and “Shoot for the head, boys!”
  • Sam spits blood into a glass of water... with a sink right behind him
  • A mystery woman with a chic haircut tosses the boys aside like it’s nothing
  • Haley’s avalanche story, and possibly the most traumatizing sex scene in Supernatural so far
  • A seven-year-old who inherited his dad’s daily deaths, and a lot of “What curse?”
  • Everyone gets the secret bunker tour, except Kevin, who is still on the houseboat
  • Fulgurite? Just hit up a crystal shop. No B&E required.
  • Sam goes full Gossip Girl to save their skins, while Jensen’s face is smushed against a wall
  • Steve Boyum back in the director’s chair for the first time since Swan Song

Both hosts loved Artemis, with her silver knife, her bow, and her subtle performance, and they want way more of her. The guys, however cute, were a little boring. LA liked bringing in Greek mythology, and Berly appreciated a tight episode that didn’t drown in exposition. Berly also did the math on Winchester deaths, and it’s Sam’s turn, not Dean’s. The gore award goes to that liver-loving bird, with Sam’s bloody spit close behind.

In the lore segment, LA covers Prometheus, the “friend of man,” via Greeka. His name means “forethought.” He helped Zeus win the war against the Titans, tricked him into taking a pile of bones wrapped in fat instead of the meat, then stole fire from Hephaestus’s workshop in a fennel stalk. Zeus chained him to Mount Caucasus, which explains the mountain, and sent an eagle to eat his liver every day as it grew back overnight. In the myth, Hercules is the one who sets him free. So why Artemis? The hosts have a theory, and it involves Disney.

“What are you, Kenny?” – Dean
