Story Transcript:
En: The leaves were turning golden and red when Kert and Maarika arrived at the family farm again.
En: The air was cool and enchanting, filled with the scent of autumn.
Et: Kert, vanem vend, nautis vaikust.
En: Kert, the older brother, enjoyed the silence.
En: He looked around and saw the fields of grain shining in the bright light.
En: "The farm is our heritage," he said more to himself than to Maarika.
Et: Maarika seisis tema kõrval.
En: Maarika stood beside him.
Et: Ta hingas sügavalt sisse, kuid tal puudus vendlik side maaga.
En: She took a deep breath, but lacked her brother's connection to the land.
En: "This place is old," Maarika said, with arms crossed, "We should sell it and start a new life."
Et: Kert raputas pead.
En: Kert shook his head.
Et: "See pole lihtsalt koht.
En: "It's not just a place.
Et: See on meie juured, Maarika.
En: These are our roots, Maarika.
Et: Meie vanemad töötasid siin.
En: Our parents worked here.
En: We can't just leave it behind so easily."
Et: Tõusis kerge tuul.
En: A gentle breeze rose.
Et: See viis mõlema mõtted vanemate juurde.
En: It drew both of their thoughts to their parents.
En: They had always wanted someone to breathe life into the farm.
En: When their parents were still alive, everything seemed simpler.
En: But now there was a strange emptiness, as they had to decide themselves.
Et: Vaidlus kestis pikalt.
En: The argument lasted a long time.
En: It began to get darker outside as they reached their parents' bedroom.
Et: Seal, vanas kummutis, leidis Maarika kollaka kirja.
En: There, in the old dresser, Maarika found a yellowed letter.
Et: "Mis see on?"
En: "What is this?"
Et: küsis Kert, seistes tema kõrval.
En: asked Kert, standing beside her.
Et: "Vaata ise," ulatas Maarika kirja.
En: "Take a look yourself," Maarika handed over the letter.
Et: Kert avas selle ettevaatlikult.
En: Kert opened it carefully.
En: In their parents' handwriting, it was written how much they hoped the farm would remain in the family.
En: The letter also spoke of a dream: for the farm to become a tourist destination, a place where people could experience the true beauty of Estonian rural life.
Et: Kirja lugedes tundis Maarika midagi muutumas.
En: As she read the letter, Maarika felt something changing.
Et: "Ehk
