Nl: Het was een kalme, frisse herfstdag.
En: It was a calm, fresh autumn day.

Nl: Blaadjes dwarrelden langs de ramen van het Anne Frank Huis in Amsterdam.
En: Leaves fluttered past the windows of the Anne Frank Huis in Amsterdam.

Nl: De sfeer binnen was plechtig en stil.
En: The atmosphere inside was solemn and quiet.

Nl: Lotte, Bram en Sofie liepen samen door de smalle gangpaden van het museum.
En: Lotte, Bram, and Sofie walked together through the narrow corridors of the museum.

Nl: Ze lazen de verhalen en keken naar de oude foto's die daar hingen.
En: They read the stories and looked at the old photos hanging there.

Nl: Maar Bram had iets anders aan zijn hoofd.
En: But Bram had something else on his mind.

En: She knew she had to do something.

En: She wanted to help Bram without making him worry even more.

Nl: "Ik ga even naar het begin van de tour," zei Lotte nonchalant.

Nl: "Wacht hier."
En: "Wait here."

Nl: Zonder een antwoord af te wachten, liep ze terug door de gangen.
En: Without waiting for an answer, she walked back through the corridors.

Nl: Haar ogen scanden elk hoekje.
En: Her eyes scanned every corner.

Nl: Ze dacht aan de drukte van de dag en hoe gemakkelijk zo'n klein papiertje verloren kon raken.
En: She thought about the day's hustle and how easily such a small piece of paper could get lost.

Nl: Het museum was bijna dicht.
En: The museum was almost closing.

Nl: Tijd was krap.
En: Time was tight.

Nl: Maar Lotte gaf niet op.
En: But Lotte didn’t give up.

Nl: Bij de vitrines, naast Anne's dagboek, zag ze iets wits op de grond schitteren.

Nl: Lotte voelde haar hart een sprongetje maken.
En: Lotte felt her heart leap.
