The Tijuana Serial Killer: An American Man Is Accused Of Horrific Murders In Tijuana, Mexico (9/30/25)

Bryant “Kevin” Rivera, a 30-year-old man from Los Angeles, was arrested in 2023 and accused of being the so-called Tijuana Serial Killer. Mexican authorities allege that Rivera lured women, often vulnerable sex workers, to motels in Tijuana, where they were later found strangled. The killings bore chilling similarities: women discovered in motel rooms, stripped of dignity, left as if discarded. One victim, María del Carmen, was found dead in January 2022, and investigators tied Rivera to her murder through security footage and witness accounts. U.S. authorities detained him in California at Mexico’s request, setting the stage for an extradition battle that drew international headlines.

Rivera has been linked to at least three murders in Tijuana, but authorities suspect the true number could be higher. The case has exposed grim realities at the U.S.–Mexico border, where American citizens exploit jurisdictional gaps and prey upon vulnerable populations. Rivera’s arrest has been a rare breakthrough in a city often plagued by unsolved murders, particularly against women. If convicted, he could face decades behind bars in Mexico, where the case has come to symbolize both the dangers faced by marginalized women and the cross-border challenges of catching predators who operate in shadows. For now, Rivera maintains his innocence, but prosecutors on both sides of the border view him as a dangerous predator whose crimes may only be partially revealed.
