Over the course of just a few days, he emptied his savings and safety deposit box, attempted to cross the U.S. border multiple times, and made a frantic, illogical journey that ultimately led him to Knoxville, Tennessee — a city where he had no known ties.
There, his body was discovered in a construction site parking lot under bizarre circumstances: his pants had been forcibly removed, his socks were turned inside out, and thousands of dollars in cash, gold bars, and jewelry were scattered around him, untouched.
