Back to EpisodesWhen You’re Not Okay: Finding Hope in God
Description
Every believer experiences times when life feels overwhelming, discouraging, or uncertain. Scripture does not hide these struggles. David, Elijah, Paul, and other faithful people experienced grief, weakness, fear, and discouragement. Even Jesus expressed deep sorrow as He approached the cross.
In this message, Pastor Chris Teien explains how God meets struggling people with compassion, strength, and hope. You do not have to pretend everything is fine. Jesus invites you to bring your burdens to Him, receive His grace, and find strength when you do not feel okay.
IN THIS MESSAGE
#1 ADMIT WHEN YOU’RE NOT OKAY
The Bible honestly records the struggles of God’s people. David cried out in anguish, Elijah became discouraged, Paul felt overwhelmed, and Jesus experienced deep sorrow. God invites us to acknowledge our pain and bring it into His presence rather than pretending everything is fine. (Psalm 34:18; Psalm 119:25-28; 2 Corinthians 1:8; Matthew 26:38)
#2 BRING YOUR BURDENS TO JESUS
Jesus welcomes weary and burdened people to find rest in Him. Although believers continue to struggle with sin, weakness, and conflicting desires, there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ. We can approach Him honestly and confidently instead of hiding in shame. (Matthew 11:28-30; Romans 7:14-25; Romans 8:1; Galatians 5:17)
#3 FIND STRENGTH AND RESTORATION THROUGH GOD’S GRACE
God does not always remove every hardship, but He faithfully provides the grace, strength, and peace needed to endure. His power is often displayed most clearly through our weakness, teaching us to depend more fully on Him. (Isaiah 40:29-31; John 14:27; 2 Corinthians 12:9; Philippians 4:7)
You do not have to face difficult seasons alone or pretend you are always okay. Bring your burdens to Jesus, trust His promises, and depend on His sufficient grace. God is near to the brokenhearted and remains faithful through every season.
