After the initial interest in the discovery of the remains of the Gilgo 4, the coverage around the case dwindled over the years, besides an update every now and then from the authorities about here the investigation currently was at.
There were a few journalists that kept the story alive and then, in 2020, the Netflix film Lost Girls helped to bring the story back into the headlines. Fast forward a few more years and the shocking arrest of a suspect, Rex Heuermann has brought the story right back to the front page.
