Episode #602 - Rebuilding Your Personal Capital with Simon Ree, Founder of Tao of Trading

Episode 602 Published 3 years, 1 month ago
Description
In this episode of Million Dollar Mastermind podcast, Host Larry Weidel is joined by Simon Ree, Founder of Tao of Trading. They delve into why you should approach stressful situations one thing at a time; why resilience is tricky but also absolutely vital; the difference between running your own business and working for a massive corporation; and what it’s like to rebuild personal capital after moving somewhere completely different.

Key highlights include:
  • When a mountaineer is climbing a mountain, they don’t think about summiting when they start off, they have to go one step at a time. The same principle applied to Simon during his time at Goldman Sachs: he had to take it one day at a time, especially during the unpredictability of a recession. In times of stress, take it gradually, don’t try and do it all at once!
  • Simon’s training in martial arts is what taught him to be resilient and push forwards. This training can be translated into many different industries and situations, whether it be finance and stock-trading, or even running a business. Resilience is a tricky business, but if you can train yourself correctly then you’re on the right track.
  • After moving to Singapore, Simon had to rebuild his reputation from the beginning, which he describes as a humbling experience. It takes a lot of time, but it gives you a new perspective and helps you to gain a sense of who you are again.
