CANES POSTCAST: CARSON BECK, (4 TD’s) #5 Miami HURRICANES DOMINATE #18 USF Bulls in 49-12 BLOWOUT W

Episode 1369

Carson Beck threw for 3 touchdowns and run for another, Mark Fletcher Jr. ran for 131 yards and 2 TD’s, the Miami defense forced Byrum Brown into an interception and a fumble, and the 5th-ranked Hurricanes went to 3-0 with a 49-12 blowout win over the previously unbeaten, 18th-ranked South Florida Bulls at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

The game was delayed for an hour and 42 minutes because of lightning with 13:45 remaining in the 2nd quarter, and Miami leading South Florida 14-3.

The Hurricanes scored touchdowns on their 1st 2 drives of the game, with Senior QB Carson Beck throwing TD passes of 8 and 39 yards to (true) Freshman Receiver Josh Moore. Beck later added a rushing touchdown from 2 yards out.

Beck finished 23-28 for 340yards. The senior threw 2 interceptions, 1 that was tipped by Freshman WR Malachi Toney on a throw that was not intended for him, and another on a play when he was hit as he threw the ball. The interception was his 1st in over 200 attempts. Beck is now 27-3 as a starter at Miami and Georgia.

Fletcher Jr., a junior, scored a pair of touchdowns in each of his last 2 games. He ran for 100+ for the 3rd time in his career. His touchdowns went for 38 and 13 yards.

Bryce Fitzgerald Jr. picked off a pass from USF Senior QB Byrum Brown, Brown’s 1st pick in 253 passing attempts.

The ‘Canes harassed Brown all over the field, sacking him once but pressuring him on almost every throw. Brown went 20-36 for 274 years and a TD, plus the pick.

The Miami defense held USF to 40 rushing yards while out-gaining the Bulls 576-332.
