Description
In Fresno’s Tower District, Thursday night just after 8:40, police responded to a high-speed crash at the intersection of Palm and Olive Avenues. Surveillance video obtained by Action News shows a grey Honda Civic speeding down Olive, closely followed by a police car. The vehicle crashed into another car occupied by bystanders, sending both into the Palm & Olive Antiques shop. The 17-year-old alleged suspect fled but was apprehended a short distance away. Police report that two firearms were found in the vehicle and that the incident originated earlier with a disturbance involving the same car near Yale and West avenues. Officers are investigating whether additional suspects were in the car at the time. The case remains under investigation.

In North Fresno near the Shaw and Highway 41 overcrossing, officers intervened following reports that a man displayed signs with controversial messages. Police asked the man to remove the signs and leave for his own safety due to threats he was receiving. There was no reported violence, and the man departed without incident.

In a case originating September 7, Madera County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a domestic violence call involving a Fresno firefighter. Deputies say Emmanuel Chavez was allegedly covered in blood and resisted entry before being detained following a brief struggle. Court documents allege Chavez threatened his wife with a loaded shotgun and struck her with the weapon in the presence of a child. He faces charges of attempted murder, weapons violations, and child abuse, and has pleaded not guilty. The Fresno Fire Department reports Chavez is on administrative leave pending legal proceedings.

Listeners, officers are continuing their investigation into the crash in the Tower District and are working to determine if there are additional suspects involved. No suspect descriptions have been released for public assistance at this time.

During this period, law enforcement notes multiple incidents involving weapons and elevated public safety concerns tied to domestic disturbances and reckless driving. If you have information related to any of these cases, you are urged to contact Fresno Police at (559) 621-7000 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-7867. You can provide tips anonymously.
